Bienvenue à la classe des 5-6! |
This week during our weekly Outdoor Education class, we went for a walk outside. I asked the students to bring their notebooks and a pencil on our walk, and to write down every question they had about nature. When we came back inside, the students wrote their questions on the board and researched their questions. After finding the answers to their questions, they wrote them under their questions, and we discussed as a class. Some of the questions included “How many different types of birds are there?” and “How tall is the tallest tree on Earth?”. The students enjoyed themselves and kept coming up with questions after we came inside.

We wrapped up the first unit last week, and the students did their end of unit summative. They presented all their work from the unit in an organized and creative way. One student for example displayed his work on string that was attached to the ceiling, which he pulled down, one piece of work at a time. He put tissue paper as curtains on his desk so that he would be able to display his work in a theatric way.
This week, Acadecap participated in Orange Shirt Day, honouring First Nations’ children. After watching videos and discussing the significance of the day, we looked at First Nations’ art. The students either drew different First Nations drawings, paintings, or sculptures, or created their own interpretations based off the art. They seemed to really enjoy themselves and were able to incorporate their personal flair into their drawings.
