Bienvenue à la classe des 5-6! |
This week, during our unit on sustainability, the students made a board game with its main focus being the environment. As a class, to show the students an example, we started by playing a board game about the environment. Afterwards, the students got into groups and created their own board game. They had a lot of fun and were able to be creative, be reflective, and also use their research skills to enrich the game.

This past week in Outdoor Education, the students built shelters. We went to a nearby park, and either in pairs or by themselves, the students were tasked with building a shelter only using things found in nature to . They used the trees, branches, leaves, and grass to create their shelters. It was pretty windy, and the students really enjoyed being sheltered!
This week, we went on an adventure and walked to a creek close to the school! The students explored and found many different things, including what the students thought was either a beaver or an otter, which turned out to be a muskrat! After exploring, the students sat by the water and read. We definitely took advantage of this warm afternoon in November!
We started our new unit in the past couple of weeks: environmental sustainability. Last week we started learning about natural resources -renewable and non-renewable. After discussing all of the different natural resources, the students sculpted their interpretation of various different natural resources, including: air, wildlife, water, the earth, and plants. They used their imagination and creatively made the natural resources.
